Expressions of interest
Our competition senior class will be taking a team to the Queensland Open, selection criteria guidelines are as follows -
-14 years and above as at the 31st December 2023
-podium finishes in 2019-2022 at South Island level and above
- willing to commit to minimum 2x weekly training or as coach Calvyn decides, building to 3 weekly training sessions 2 months out from competition
- players selected for this team do not require parental supervision and may travel with the team without family members under coaches supervision
- this is not strict criteria , if you feel that you meet most of the selection criteria and still want to be in the team, please consult coach Calvyn.
The club will be staying as a group from 21st September-24 September, Naomi will be looking into accommodation and van hire.
We also have this trip open to members of the club that do not meet the selection criteria but still wish to go.
There will need to be parental supervision for these players if under 18 years old.
Senior training classes will be aimed at this competition building towards nationals, coach Jason will be taking some extra training sessions as well.
Please note- if you have not managed a podium finish at South Island level or above your money is better spent traveling to more competitions through out NZ instead of spending money competing in this competition, the New Zealand Nationals are being held in Wellington 7-8th October which the club will be sending a large contingent to, so this could be the goal for players not quite ready for Australian competitions, if you are in doubt, talk to your coaches.
